Guy Fieri’s Dive and Taco Joint, City Barrel, and more: KC’s food and drink events for February 18-24
Thursday, February 21
For better or worse, Guy Fieri’s Dive & Taco Joint (1333 Walnut Street) opens today at 6 p.m. in the Power & Light District. Prepare thineself for over-the-top everything and lots (!!!!) of exclamation points.
In Waldo, Boru Ramen (500 West 75th Street) is turning two. The restaurant is celebrating with an all-day happy hour ($3 draft beer, $5 wines, $5 select signature cocktails, $5 sake, $2 soju, appetizers starting at $3), and will be hosting giveaways.
Friday, February 22
Also opening this week: City Barrel Brewing Company (1740 Holmes), a 125-seat, large-scale craft beer brewery and restaurant that focuses on hoppy and sour beers (yes and yes). Among the beers available on opening night will be the 816, an all-citra hop beer, and the Ahoy! tiki beer featuring guava and lime. Pick up next month’s Pitch for more on this spot.
Saturday, February 23
Get to Local Pig‘s new River Market location (20 East 5th Street) today from 11am-2pm for a free tasting featuring wares from Kansas City Canning Company. Drinks and food will be available, and demos of how to use KC Canning Co.’s products (sriracha pickled green beans, pickled green tomatoes, vanilla peach bourbon preserves, plus a variety of shrubs) will be ongoing during the event.
On the Westside, the Roasterie Factory & Cafe (1204 West 27th Street) is hosting a cookie-decorating workshop alongside Beautifully Delicious Bakery. Get pro tips on decorating while sipping on coffee. Decorate one cookie for $5 or two for $9. The best designs will also be entered into a contest for Roasterie gift cards.
