Go, Girls

Feminist philosophies and woman-written ’zines pack the shelves seven days a week at Solidarity! Revolutionary Center and Radical Library in Lawrence (1109 Massachusetts). This week, women take over the walls as well. A handful of female artists and activists who find their creative outlet in a variety of mediums will debut the Radical Women of Lawrence Art Show tonight. The show includes K.T. Walsh’s found-object sculptures and the work of artist Belinda Penaloza. Women aren’t just supplying art, either. Adding a little fuel to the grrl-powered event, the Michigan-based Pussy Pirates will spice it up with some live postpunk music, and the woman-fronted Coat Party will follow up with some electro sounds sure to please fans of Le Tigre. The show starts at 7 p.m., and the artwork will hang through August 4. Show your solidarity with the artists by tossing in a $5 donation at the door.
