Global Neighbors & Flavors Fest highlights Lenexa’s culinary diversity
Expand your cultural plate this weekend without leaving Johnson County. The Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City and Lenexa Public Market are putting on a Global Neighbors & Flavors Fest on June 7 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The free and family-friendly event features live performances, vendors, and a focus on food from around the world. No tickets or registration are required.
Live performances include those from HK Chinese Folk Dance Group, German Folk Dance & Schuhplattler, the Thai Cultural Center of Greater KC, and many more, concluding with a Parade of Flags.
Lenexa Public Market is already a hub for global flavors, such as Mr. D’s Coffee with East Asian flavors and mochi donuts, Turkish döner meat from KC Doner, African Dream Cuisine, Saap Saap Noodles, and more. This event highlights these familiar “global neighbors” as well as invites food trucks and pop-ups to expand the options. GoChew Korean American burgers and sandwiches will be on site, as will pop-ups representing Kenya, China, and Germany.
Topp’d Pizza + Salads is leaning into their diverse menu and offering Chicken Florentine pizza, Greek pizza, and a Thai peanut pizza. Sohaila’s Kitchen, a Pakistani restaurant inside Lenexa Public Market, will be serving lamb curry and rice pudding.
Come with a hunger for learning and cultural appreciation as much as for food.
Lenexa Public Market is at 8750 Penrose Ln., Lenexa, KS 66219.
