Girl in a Coma’s Phanie Diaz talks NPR and influences

Girl in a Coma‘s release on Blackheart Records, Exits & All the Rest, was named as one of NPR’s 50 best records of 2011. It’s an astonishing bit of rock and roll from a Los Angeles group that blends rock, punk and girl-group harmonies to create something that’s all their own yet immediately familiar. The trio pops through our fair city on a regular basis, and this summer’s jaunt sees them at the Riot Room Monday, July 30, with the Black Box Revelation and Wick & the Tricks. We recently spoke with drummer Phanie Diaz via e-mail.
