Get Spiked

Even with all the technological and biological advances of the past 20 years, citizens of underdeveloped nations still live with poverty, hunger and overpopulation. You know what might change that? Hot, coed, sand-in-the-bikini volleyball. Seriously, work with me. The second-annual Sandtastic Sand Volleyball Tournament raises money for Engineers Without Borders, whose projects aim to improve quality of life in Third World countries. Bump, set and spike at 4 p.m. today at 13105 Holmes. Cost is $20 per person, which includes $5 worth of food and drink tickets. Teams can be six to eight players each, but members must be at least age 16 to play; each team needs a minimum of two women. Everyone will play at least five games; a single elimination tournament follows. See ewb-kc.org for details.
