Get down at the Sucka Free Producer’s Showcase this weekend

It wasn’t long ago that a regular event in town spotlighting local producers would’ve seemed laughable, but the solid turnout of bodies on the floor at the first Sucka Free Producer’s Showcase at RecordBar, in October, proved that there is an audience for strange beats in KC.

Experimental beat producers need to be ever-evolving creatures. With MIDI controllers and such becoming more attainable for novice beat producers in recent years, it was only a matter of time before hip-hop-rooted musicians began straying from the bulk and hassle of turntables. Four such minds will be spotlighted this Saturday night, when local MC and producer Sephiroth hosts the second edition of the Sucka Free Producer’s Showcase, also at RecordBar.
