Gaga: singer, songwriter, provocateur…and politician?

Lady Gaga spoke out at a rally in Portland, Maine yesterday afternoon, urging the state to repeal the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. The State Senate is voting to repeal the 17-year-old policy today, which allows gays to serve in the military provided they do not disclose their orientation.

Gaga called her address “The Prime Rib of America.” “Equality is the prime rib of America, but because I’m gay, I don’t get to enjoy the greatest cut of meat my country has to offer,” says Gaga, wearing glasses, a suit and looking vaguely like Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

Gaga’s new imagining of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is as follows: “If you don’t like it, go home.” I can roll with that. (And probably apply it to Gaga-haters, too, conveniently.)
