“If Entercom fucks Petro for no good reason, Johnny Dare will be a problem. I really feel bad for Soren because Entercom is screwing him to the wall. The problem that Whitlock is going to have is that Entercom has a very heavy commercial load that he’s not used to. The first time he blows off a break and skips some commercials, he’s going to get a call to come to the office. You think they are going to pay Whitlock more than they did Petro and run less commercials? Ain’t no way.”
— Unnamed Entercom employee
GH: Some believe the only reason Petro has been retained by Entercom after being blown out of his KMBZ 980 afternoon gig last year is his close friendship with Dare, Entercom’s Harley-riding 800-pound gorilla at KQRC 98.9.
“Broncomania died Sunday at 3:57 p.m. It was 41 years old. Cause of death: apathy and greed. The soul of the best football city in America is gone. It was sacrificed for a lousy $400 million, the price of building a new facility that shames the memory of old Mile High Stadium. The Broncos were a proud team of the people, common folks with uncommon passion for football. Now the Broncos are marketed to the big-spending Chardonnay sippers and sushi eaters on the club level. Too many of the nouveau riche are shameless front-runners. Their money has displaced families that laughed and cheered together at home games for more than a generation, usurping some of the best seats in the house.”

GH: Those wishing for downtown stadiums need to be cautious. New stadiums are not always what they were promised to be. Tradition, though, grows stronger with age.
“The [Chiefs] fans here are tremendous. and they are hurting right now just like we are. We know that down the road it is going to work. It’s just like my daughter when she was 11 years old; she didn’t think she was cute enough, and she didn’t get invited to a dance when she was in eighth grade. Now she’s drop-dead gorgeous, just like I knew one day she would be.”
— Al Saunders, 980
GH: But Saunders’ daughter didn’t have 80,000 drunks screaming at her every Sunday afternoon to hurry up and blossom.
