GH: Damon passed on a five-year $35 million offer from the Royals and a year later signed a $31 million deal with the Red Sox for four years. That is a difference of $750,000 a year. The Royals will spend the next decade trying to replace Damon’s talent at the top of their lineup while he spends it competing for pennants. Trading Damon for Roberto Hernandez remains one of the dumbest moves of the Glass era.
