Further Review

“I’m not talking to anyone from Kansas. I ain’t got [expletive] to say about Kansas. I hate Kansas. There’s no way I should have been a free agent.”
Drew Davison, a four-year starter at KU as a 5-foot-11-inch, 185-pound defensive back who went undrafted and recently signed as a free agent with the New York Jets, Lawrence Journal World

“I talked to [Drew Davison] after the draft. He thinks Kansas should have hyped him up more. He started four years there. The coaching staff didn’t call people to help him get into senior games or tell scouts to check him out.”
Jamarei Bryant, former KU defensive back, Lawrence Journal World

“When I come to bat in Tampa, they always play [“Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini”]. I can’t stand it.”
Mike Sweeney, ESPN Magazine

GH:Sweeney also talked about his favorite tunes. “Jesus Freak” by DC Talk is what he likes to hear when he’s on the field. Hard-core Christian rock such as “Boom” by P.O.D. makes him “bring it to the plate every time.” He has picked “When the Rain Comes” by Third Day to play at his upcoming wedding. “I like anything by them — they’re buddies of mine,” Sweeney said. But he has heard enough of “(I Wanna) Be Like Mike,” which he heard incessantly at spring training while strolling to the batter’s box. “Please! There’s only one Mike to be like,” Sweeney said.

“Picture this. Tony Meola is butt-naked sitting in the [Wizards’] training room with his leg up on the sink. The trainer gives him a hemorrhoid suppository and tells him he needs to put it up his backside. Meola tells the trainer, ‘I ain’t doing that. You do it.’ Just as the trainer has his rubber-gloved finger inside Meola’s rear, in walks Meola’s roommate [Alexi Lalas]. He says, ‘What the hell are you guys doing?'”
Dave Stewart, KQRC 98.9

GH: Meola came on The Johnny Dare and Murphy Show just as Stewart was finishing telling this story. Meola added that he explained to Lalas that this was a medical procedure and not a date.
