Further Review
“We have made a decision with this show that [Tony Peña] is not a guy we will seek out for interviews because he is extremely difficult to understand. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that he will be the least-interviewed manager in baseball. I think the radio and television stations for the most part — unless something really big happens — will stay away [from interviewing Peña]. What they will find is that it’s difficult for listeners and viewers to understand him.”

GH: Maybe Kietzman’s audience is shrinking as fast as the winter Arbitron numbers indicate, but I was under the impression that his listeners were more diverse than he was tolerant.
“This afternoon it was announced that Matt Suzuki was officially named to start tonight’s game at Anaheim. Suzuki had to be called up from the minors. Let’s check the scoreboard, and right now the Royals are leading 1-0. Suzuki, folks, has not given up a hit so far!”
— Len Dawson, as a graphic showed the Royals’ 1-0 lead over Anaheim in the fifth inning with Suzuki pitching for the Royals, KMBC Channel 9
GH: This happened at 10:28 p.m. on May 21. Dawson had reported during his 6 p.m. sportscast that Suzuki would start Anaheim. The problem was that Miguel Asencio, not Suzuki, had started for the Royals almost ninety minutes before Dawson’s sportscast. Five innings had passed, and Dawson was still unaware that it was Asencio who had the no-hitter going. Dawson is lazy and ridiculously unprepared; that’s why he was canned by HBO Sports and why he should hang up his Channel 9 microphone. He’s been coasting for years, and it appears he doesn’t give a damn about his audience.
“After viewing the videotape of the [Jim] Rome tour stop in Cleveland, I’ve got one thing to say: My kids ain’t coming. When you get a ticket, it’s no guarantee of getting in the building. It’s a [general admission] ticket. This is their rules, not ours.”
