Fun o the Irish
Janey Mack! Remember the last Irish Fest you went to? The one where you got bloody fluthered and ended up bringing that cheap brasser back to your hotel room? You said you were acting the maggot, but I think you’re just a chancer. Better to be a bowsie than a dry shite, I guess. Anyway, we’ll really be suckin’ diesel this weekend because the Eighth-Annual Weston Irish Festival (500 Welt Street, in Weston, 816-640-5235) is gonna be off your nut. Tonight, the Mickey Finns are travelin’ all the way from Paddy Reilly’s place in New York City to play their gone-in-the-head brand of Irish pub music. Saturday night, we can get good and gee-eyed with clover-kissin’, pop-rockin’ Seven Nations. Sunday brings a Kansas City-style hooley with performances from the Elders and Connie Dover, and I heard that Flannigan’s Right Hook (playing all three days) is the full schilling as well. There’ll be corned beef, coddle and stew up to 90; wash it down with the Weston Brewing Company’s schlossy microbrews. Tickets cost $8 tonight and $10 Saturday and Sunday, but snappers 14 and younger are free. See westonirish.com for complete details and irishabroad.com to brush up
your brogue.
