Friday Freebies

In these tough economic times, we Wayward Bloggers would like to offer you what we call Friday Freebies, a list of things to do this weekend that won’t cost you any more than the gas it takes to get to ’em.
Lessman’s Catfish Farm, home of Truckhenge, has Truckhenge Music Festival III. The three-day festival has 18 bands, with everything from the punk of the Hemorrhoids and Left On Northwood, the funk of the Pudd’n Pops, and hip-hop from Mindwreck & TwiztedFreak, among others. The camping’s free, too. Bands play Friday and Saturday, and a full schedule can be found at the Truckhenge MySpace page.
Another, less pastoral music festival happens as part of Old Shawnee Days. Tonight, there will be three tribute bands: Silver Bullet (A Tribute to Bob Seger), Change of Heart (A Tribute to the Music of Heart), and Edge of Forever (The Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd). Saturday features an actual, honest-to-goodness classic rock act in the form of Night Ranger.
Seriously – Night Ranger! For free! In Shawnee! How freakin’ great is that?!
Old Shawnee Days runs Friday through Sunday, and there will be music all three days. In addition to “rock” bands, there will also be performances from the American Legion Band, local bluegrass purveyors the Midday Ramblers, and the Shawnee Concert Band. A full schedule of events is at the Old Shawnee Days website.
