French Horn Rebellion

French Horn Rebellion crafts dance electronica with a disco attitude. The band’s refreshing jams, chock-full of keyboard blips, artificial hand claps and synth squeals, remind listeners that danceability isn’t necessarily about a pulsating bass line. (It’s unclear whether a French horn is routinely used in the duo’s tunes, let alone if such a thing constitutes rebellion; a YouTube search shows the use of the instrument at least once, though.) The band — two brothers from Brooklyn — issues the kinds of songs that should come equipped with a fog machine. FHR mines the same vein as Delorean and Database, so it comes as no surprise that the bands have remixed one another’s songs. Those seeking a re-imagined mirror-ball era are encouraged to get lost in the neon boogie.
