Free garage rock this afternoon in the Crossroads.

To dickens with work! Local garage crew Bleachbloodz is playing a free show today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Firehouse, which is either at 19th and Wyandotte or 19th and Central, depending on whether you look at MySpace or at a recent Facebook status update from guitarist Matt Erickson (who, full disclosure, occasionally writes music stuff for The Pitch). Fronted by lupine former Rich Boys bassist Troy Diesel, ze ‘Bloodz are a study in the kind of music obscure garage singles collectors call “real rock ‘n roll.” Their sound runs the short, psychedelic gauntlet from the Pretty Things to the early Stones. Even though it’s raining outside, you’ll wanna bring your shades. And tequila. Lots of tequila.

I caught Bleachbloodz earlier this summer at the Brick. Diesel could’ve used a lot more howl and fire in his singing, but they were still just a baby band back then. Some of them were still in shorts.

This afternoon’s show should be a gas. Lemme know what happens if you go. I’ll be stuck at this damn desk.
