Frank White to talk Royals and his new book at the Plaza Library tonight

He won’t be taking you out to mini golf or for a big bowl of ice cream, but Frank White is finally ready to talk about the divorce. The Royals’ great will sit down for a conversation with Bill Althaus of the Independence Examiner, his co-author of a new book, One Man’s Dream: My Town, My Team, My Time, at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library tonight.

“The Royals broke my heart,” White writes in the book.

Welcome to the club…thinks every Royals fan. White and the Royals split in the offseason after a disagreement over his compensation and role with the team. He was hired by the Kansas City T-Bones this past spring as part of their coaching staff. White had worked for the Royals in various positions since his retirement in 1990. At tonight’s talk, he is expected to discuss what happened and also happier times with the team, like the 1985 World Series. A reception is at 6 p.m., and the program starts 30 minutes later.
