Four Inane Questions with Tanfastic Mobile’s Andrea Irish
We don’t want to point out the obvious, but we think Tanfastic Mobile Owner Andrea Irish is missing an amazing marketing opportunity by not calling herself Tandrea. (Legit, eh?)
The spray tan artist extraordinaire recently won The Pitch’s Best Mobile Spray Tan category.
Irish ventured into the land of spray tanning more than twenty years ago. “Tanfastic was a surprise venture. In fact, I was ahead of the curve,” she says. “I was spray tanning before the Hollywood celebrities even knew what it was. Now, everyone knows about it. I love making people feel good in their own skin!”
When she’s not busy “turning thousands of people into bronzed beauties,” Irish can often be found vacationing near an ocean—any ocean. She’s not picky as long as it’s warm. And, yes, she’s her own best client. “The beach is my happy place, and adventure travel is my passion,” she says. “I believe in living life to the fullest because you never know what the next day holds.”
We caught up with Tandrea in between spray tans at a busy fitness competition to ping her with our eclectically eccentric questionnaire. Bless.
The Pitch: What’s been your most random celebrity encounter/brush with greatness?
Andrea Irish: When my daughter and I were on vacation in Greece and waiting at the airport, we spotted Noel Fisher—better known as Mickey Milkovich from Shameless. He was traveling with his wife. I wanted to say something to him, but we decided to respect his privacy. It was a fun moment, realizing we were sitting just feet away from someone we had seen on TV, and now he’s across from us at the Milos Airport.
What’s the absolute maximum you’d pay for a hotel room?
The absolute max? $400 per night, and it would have to be an exceptional experience—something beyond just a place to sleep. It would need to have a stunning view, preferably of an ocean/beach, and have some luxury amenities like a spa, pool, and gourmet dining. Also, do you think I could get a butler service, too, or would that be wishful thinking?
Dish! What’s your favorite episode of Friends?
I am a hopeless romantic, so my favorite Friends episodes would be where Ross and Rachel decided to rekindle their relationship and be together. Or, when Chandler and Monica got engaged.
Ironically, given my career, I’ve somehow missed the infamous one where Ross gets a spray tan! Over the years, I’ve heard about it enough to feel like I’ve seen it, though.
What one beauty product needs to be retired immediately?
Heavy. Foundations.
For one, they can be pore-clogging. Also, I feel like they settle in my fine lines and creases and end up making me look older. There are now several great products that can camouflage redness, acne, dark spots, etc. that are much lighter. I now opt for more sheer-based formulas like tinted moisturizers.
Bonus 5th Question: What’s your favorite non-swear swear word?
I rarely ever used swear words, so if I did use a real swear word, my friends would laugh and say, “Can you say that again?” That usually lightens up the mood pretty quickly.
Probably my favorite non-swear word is “freaking” or “H-E-double hockey sticks.” Although, when using them, I’m usually not needing to express much frustration anyway. Luckily, I don’t get frustrated easily.
