Former Superintendent choking on karma

It wasn’t long ago that we gave you an update on the Kansas City School District’s former super Anthony Amato. The short version: flaunt huge unearned ego, spend vast sums of money on tests with no proven value, leave for new job under black cloud of district resentment, repeat process at new school.
It seems the cycle’s winding down again, because the people at Amato’s current school, Stockton United, are through taking his crap and started calling for his removal. You can read all about it at United for a Student Centered SUSD’s blog. The site throws around a lot of charges — perhaps the worst have to do with just where Amato decided to spend federal stimulus money. Here’s the money line: “The karma you have brought from three other districts of wounded people is choking you.”
The blog’s worth looking at for a vision of what might have been. The scary thing is, there are a whole lot of crappy supers like Amato who make their living working the urban school circuit and jumping to another gig just before shit hits the fan. Let’s hope our school board made the right choice with the new guy.
