Word just reached us that Joel Ekman, who parted ways with the Grammy-nominated Stone Sour in 2006, has formed a new band that aims to raise money for a good cause this weekend. From the MySpace bulletin:

Joel Ekman former drummer for Stone Sour and his new band Issac James have teamed up with Twilight 2 Dawn, a foundation to help struggling musicians, for a benefit show at The Pig in Independence Missouri on Sat. the 21st.

Issac James, named after Ekman’s son who passed away from Brain cancer in 2006 is comprised of, Chris “Blackie” Starks – Guitar/Vocals (former member of Karma and Field of Grey), Gil Cole – Guitar/Vocals, John Lillard – Bass, and Joel Ekman – Drums/Vocals (Former drummer for Stone Sour).

Isaac James is reportedly planning to release its debut EP Too Much Horsepower, this year. Joining James at the fundraiser this Saturday are Black Ribbon Sky, Forever Greye and Dora Dank.
