Former KC Schools Super Amato fired from new gig, shocking no one

One-time Kansas City, Missouri, School District Superintendent Anthony Amato has been fired from his new gig in Stockton, California, The Kansas City Star reports.

This isn’t a surprise — even after 14 months on the job. During his KC tenure, Amato pissed off just about everyone involved in education. Unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons; he rammed canned programs into schools without training the teachers who would administer them, and generally behaved like a fuckknob, aristocratic vapor.

Upon arriving in Stockton, Amato immediately enacted the Success For All reading program. It was the same screwed up program as here. Except in Stockton, he spent $6 million on the it — without the state’s approval. So the program got yanked with nothing to show for the $6 million price tag.

Amato’s work was featured in a July 2007 issue of The Pitch: “In Amato We Trust?” It feels good to be right.
