Food Matters

Picture the best sample day ever. Now you have an idea of what to expect at the 13th annual Eat Local & Organic farmers’ exhibition. The expo, organized by the Kansas City Food Circle, brings together dozens of area farmers to showcase their meat, eggs and veggies. Arrive early and blow your budget on Green Dirt Farm’s lamb and sheep’s-milk cheese. This is also your chance to meet local growers, sign up for community-supported agriculture subscriptions, and buy seedlings or plants for your garden. The farmers are at the Roger T. Sermon Community Center (Truman and Noland roads, Independence) from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You have a second chance to see them April 2 at the Shawnee Civic Center (13817 Johnson Drive, in Shawnee) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.
