Webster House (1644 Wyandotte) is hosting a dinner of pre-Thanksgiving indulgences tonight, beginning at 5. This $40, three-course dinner ($15 for kids; prices do not include tax or gratuity) is conspicuously absent of turkey but does include options such as truffle-braised beef short ribs, citrus-glazed Corvina bass, cassoulet sausage with duck confit, and grilled Hatfield Farms tenderloin. Call 816-800-8820 to make reservations.

If the traditional mountain of crusty dishes is not tempting this year, dozens of restaurants are willing to do the work for you. Below are a range of the more tempting Thanksgiving-themed menus out there. Just remember the cardinal rule of dining out on the holidays: tip mightily.

Eddie V’s (4749 Pennsylvania) is offering its regular menu or a special turkey dinner with hand-whipped potatoes, baby French green beans with sun-dried tomatoes, cranberry chutney and brioche-sage stuffing for $39 (children 12 and younger eat for $15), or you can choose from the regular menu. Eddie V’s is open from 4 to 10 p.m.; call 816-531-2537 for a reservation.

Gram & Dun (600 Ward Parkway) is featuring a special à la carte menu that includes Thanksgiving-inspired classics (sweet-potato-and-pumpkin soup, turkey breast and thigh, sage-brined pork chops) in addition to menu items like chicken and waffles, sea scallops and more. Call 816-389-2900.

Leeway Franks (935 Iowa Street, Lawrence) does its annual Franksgiving party today from 3 to 7 p.m. The meal this year is anchored by slow-smoked roast beef, stuffing, mashed potatoes and more. The all-you-can-eat meal is $18 for adults and $10 for kids. You can make reservations by emailing leewayfranksllc@gmail.com.

Lidia’s (101 West 22nd Street) is open from noon to 6 p.m. Guests choose from a starter and four proteins — turkey, lamb chops, porchetta or barramundi — as well as a choice of three desserts. The dinner is $55 a person ($18 for children ages 2-12), and wine pairings are available for $35 a person. Walk in or make a reservation via opentable.com or by calling 816-221-3722.

Stock Hill (4800 Main) is serving a Thanksgiving buffet (including prime rib, turkey, porchetta, oysters and smoked salmon) from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and an à la carte menu from 4:30 to 9. Call 816-895-8400 for reservations.

Summit Grill (520 West 75th Street; 4835 Northeast Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit) is serving lobster-stuffed salmon, turkey honey-baked ham and sides. Prices range from $19 to $28. Call 816-795-1299 (Lee’s Summit) or 816-361-9788 (Waldo) for reservations, or see summitgrillandbar.com.

More options all over the spectrum: Lew’s, Stroud’s, Bristol, Fogo de Chao, and Garozzo’s.

Two notable restaurant openings are coming KC’s way this weekend, including the much-anticipated Plaza location of Rye (4646 J.C. Nichols Parkway). (Updated, November 22: Rye now says Monday, November 27, is the day.) A work years in the making (thanks to leasing negotiations and construction), the Plaza Rye will bring the successful Megan and Colby Garrelts–helmed comfort menu north from Leawood. I got a peek during a preview event this weekend, and while I can only really speak to aesthetics, it is an impressive spot.

Also having its grand opening this weekend: Maru Sushi & Grill at Prairie Fire (5621 West 135h Street, Overland Park). This Midwest-friendly sushi and sashimi restaurant quietly opened a little over a week ago, but during lunch and dinner service today is offering off-the-menu chef’s specials to commemorate its official opening.
