Five KC places to ring in the New Year that aren’t focused on alcohol

Cheers to surviving 2024! Raise a glass of champagne or sparkling white grape juice.

Everything goes here in KC, but some places are better than others for those who are looking to avoid an alcohol-focused party scene. Here are our top picks (that aren’t sold out) for ringing in the New Year with more entertainment or food than booze.

Larks Entertainment

Shuffle your way into 2025 with a $50 party pack at Larks in West Bottoms.

The entry fee includes two drink tickets (mocktails are available), one entree, churros, an optional champagne toast, and 30 minutes of shuffleboard time. Additional food, drink, and court time are available for purchase. The fun kicks off at 8 p.m., and parking is free.

Silo Modern Farmhouse

Do you actually want to be home by 10 p.m. and in your pajamas?

Silo Modern Farmhouse in Lenexa may be more of your speed, and we fully respect you (or maybe we are you). Silo has put together a four-course meal, with seatings between 5 – 9 p.m. The Wagyu filet tenderloin with Maltese sauce and Chilean seabass porcini sounds like a showstopper, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention their truly memorable, towering Silo signature chocolate cake. The cost is $80 per person, and reservations are filling up quickly.

CharBar, Parkville location

For another active option, CharBar’s Parkville location is throwing an NYE Pickleball Celebration from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m.

$35 reserves your spot and provides light bites all night long. Additional food and drink will be available for purchase. DJ Krame will keep the vibe high all night, and open-play courts will be divided by skill level so all can enjoy their time. Plus, Char Bar will be announcing swag giveaways throughout the event.

Uptown Theater

While this event does include access to five open bars, the focus is on the performances.

The main stage features a drag show from knockouts like Luna Flare, Korakkay, Minti Varieties, Karmella Uchawi, and EV. Plus, DJs and other can’t-miss entertainment and photo ops will be set up throughout the entire Midtown venue. Tickets are $70 in advance and $85 at the door. Drinking or not, we’d recommend using a rideshare.

Of Course Kitchen & Company

For a south KC option, Overland Park’s Of Course is offering a specially curated prix fixe menu for $120 per person.

Late dinner seatings are still available for this buzzy Midwestern meets South Asian restaurant. Making it one of the more dietary-inclusive options, vegetarian and gluten-free menus are available (as is a wine-pairing option.)
