• Kansas City artist and Charlotte Street grant recipient Jesse Small opens Twiganatomy, an exhibition of new work, at Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art (2004 Baltimore, 816-221-2626). Small builds impressively detailed architectural, mixed-media sculptures, which range from small-scale ceramic pieces adorned with his elegant geometrical surface designs to large-scale hanging pieces with the intricacy of Victorian lace. Also at Sherry Leedy: Terror in Black and White, large-scale works by St. Louis printmaker Tom Huck. Huck creates ambitious wood blocks with a visual grammar that echoes Albrecht Dürer and with subject matter bridging the lowbrow regionalism movement and fine illustration.
