Fiesta On

Let’s face it, Cinco de Mayo is about soaking up tequila, not cultural enrichment. But sometimes the two can go hand in hand. Now that you’re nearly 10 days past your May 5 hangover, how about hitting the Margarita Cove at Fiesta KC? While you’re on Crown Center Plaza (2450 Grand), take advantage of everything else offered by the annual three-day event celebrating all things Hispanic. More than 100 vendor booths offer food and souvenirs; the Artisan Village showcases pottery, paintings, jewelry and textiles by Latino artists; the sounds and steps of reggaeton, Latin rock, salsa and merengue radiate from two stages; and kids can cool off in the Crown Center fountains, play carnival games and make their own art. Festivities last from 5 to 11 p.m. and resume Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. Admission is $5; get a three-day pass for $10. See fiestakc.com.
