Fancy Dancers

As a symphony-attending fancy person who wears silken waistcoats and black patent-leather opera pumps, you probably think you’ve seen it all: theatrical guest conductors, temperamental viola players, the solos of world-famous bassoon virtuosos. But the performance of Symphonic Quixotic, a collaboration of the Kansas City Symphony and the Quixotic ensemble, just might make your monocle pop out and become ensnared in the elaborate, fascinator–augmented hairstyle of the woman sitting in front of you. The company performs dance, aerial acrobatics and percussion against the majestic sweep of Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major, themes from Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring and other pieces. Performances are tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre (1029 Central). Ticket prices range from $25 to $55. For more information, call 816-471-0400 or see kcsymphony.org.
