False Facebook rumor locks down North Kansas City High School

Sound the all-clear at North Kansas City High School. A false Facebook rumor of violence at the school, followed by a suspicious vehicle circling the area, led to the school being locked down, KMBC reported.

While several students reportedly heard the rumor, no one actually saw it. North Kansas City police reportedly spotted the “suspicious vehicle” around 11:20 a.m., leading to the lockdown, which was lifted after noon.

No one was injured because there apparently wasn’t anything really going down. But school officials rightfully took action, and their uneasiness is understandable. Last weekend, North Kansas City student Dejan Joksimovic was one of three men shot and killed at a Northland Red Roof Inn. No charges have been filed in the triple homicide.
