Ex-Grandview police officer Jeffrey Moreland charged in the homicides of Nina Whitney and Cara Jo Roberts

UPDATE (July 12): Homicide victim Nina Whitney’s daughter dated her mother’s suspected killer 25 years ago. Paige Huesey told Fox 4 that ex-Grandview police officer Jeffrey Moreland was adored by her mother. Huesey told the TV station that she never suspected Moreland until she saw a police sketch of her mother’s suspected killer. “It just hit me like a bolt of lightning, that’s Jeff’s chin,” Huesey said. “I want him to know his ex-girlfriend got him caught, plain and simple. He murdered my mother, and I was not about to give up.”

Original Story (July 8): A former Grandview police officer has been charged in the cold-case homicides of two women. Prosecutors in Jackson and Cass counties announced murder and rape charges against 52-year-old Jeffrey Moreland, who medically retired from the Grandview PD several years ago.
