Evyn, 20, in the Power & Light

I caught up with Evyn as she and her parents were leaving the P&L after lunch. No one was surprised when I stopped her — clearly, this happens all the time.
“If I had a dollar for every time someone said they liked my makeup or my hair or whatever, I’d be a millionaire,” Evyn said. She told me it’d already happened eight or nine times that day. Considering that, around lunchtime, 99 percent of the patrons at the P&L are businessmen in polos and pleated khakis with cell phones clipped to their belts, Evyn was bound to attract attention.
Even her nails are eye-catching. She did ’em herself.

Evyn’s in school for hair at the House of Heavilin Beauty College in Blue Springs, so hers has to be cool. It’s a job requirement.

Makeup, too. She told me she recently tried out to be on Tyra Banks’ reality show, America’s Next Top Model, which explains how she was so comfortable with all the picture-taking. She doesn’t know whether she’s been accepted yet.

Fierce, right? Evyn’s whole look is pretty bonkers, but what stunned me the most was that she got everything — bag, shirt, jeans, shoes — at places like Target, Walmart and Delia’s. Tyra’s got to love a bargain shopper.
