We claim partial responsibility for the insanity of the Burly-Q Girly Crew‘s first show. Hundreds of people were turned away because of the size of the crowd that showed up, and not everyone who stayed was prepared for the punk, DIY style of the show. The Girly Crew has tightened its act through a handful of subsequent appearances, but Saturday night’s gig at the Fahrenheit Gallery (1717 West 9th Street, 816-304-5477) is only the troupe’s second full-scale performance. In collaboration with their accompanists, members of Snakebite Orphans and Mr. Marco’s V7, the ladies are cooking up exciting new ideas involving mermaids, pirates, gorillas, aliens, secretaries and tits. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the show begins at 10. — Gina Kaufmann
