Elders have CD, upcoming benefit shows

Guess I’m a bit late to the hoolie. The Elders have a new CD out. It’s called Gael Day, their fifth. Looks like it came out a few weeks ago and is not believed to be carrying the swine flu. The venerable Irish-Americana rock band will be playing a couple of benefits gigs coming up in Overland Park.

Saturday, May 9, they’ll be beating the bodhrán at Abdallah Shrine Temple (5300 Metcalf in Overland Park) to raise funds for Hope Faith Ministries, a faith-based, non-denominational organization that serves the poor and homeless.

Then, a week later, on Saturday, May 16, the Elders will play at Yardley Hall on the Johnson County Community College campus (12345 College Blvd) to benefit the Heartstrings Community Foundation, a group that helps find employment for adults with developmental disabilities.

So, that’s some great karma for the Elders. Now if I could just get my hands on that CD…
