EJ’s Urban Eatery teams up with KC Bier Company, Boulevard hosts a holiday bazaar, and more of this week’s food and drink events

Beginning at 4 p.m. today, Border Brewing Company (406 East 18th Street) is releasing its Imperial Coffee Stout, this year made with beans roasted by the West Bottoms’ Blip Coffee.
Thursday, December 14
Crane Brewing Company (6515 Railroad Street, Raytown) is tapping two new beers tonight, both of them New England–style “milkshake” IPAs. This newer style of beer uses lactose sugar to create a thicker, slightly sweet — and, yes, milky — beer that indeed resembles that classic drink. Crane’s two offerings are flavored with coconut and tangerines. Tonight’s tapping begins at 6.
In Lawrence, Genovese (941 Massachusetts Street) is inviting guests to a sparkling-wine tasting. For $25, you’ll taste five different sparkling wines, along with small bites from Genovese’s kitchen. Call 785-842-0300 to reserve a spot.
Indulge in the heartiness of the season tonight with a Mont d’Or cheese party at Westport Café and Bar (419 Westport Road). The rich and creamy traditional cheese fondue will be served with charcuterie and potatoes. The event is $25 a person, and reservations can be made by calling 816-931-4740.
Perhaps no less hearty, EJ’s Urban Eatery (1414 West Ninth Street) is joining forces with KC Bier Company for a four-course beer dinner tonight in the West Bottoms. One sample course: a Broadway Butcher bratwurst with spätzle, alongside an apple and Brussels-sprout salad, with an Arnold Palmer gastrique. This dish goes with KC Bier’s Pils. 1889 Pizza Napoletana (2876 West 47th Avenue) is hosting a kid-oriented pizza-making event this morning at 10:30. Kids will learn how to stretch and shape a ball of pizza dough, learn about flavors and toppings, then enjoy their own creations. This class is $11 a kid; tickets can be purchased here.
In Brookside, BKS Artisan Ales (633 East 63rd Street) is celebrating its grand opening at 12:30 p.m. Get there early — BKS has proven very popular, and its tasting room is not a large space.

Today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., BLVD Rec Center (2534 Madison) is getting very festive for a holiday bazaar featuring a host of local vendors, a raffle, games (including beer-hall bingo and Nutcracker Keep-the-Glass), live music and more.
Celebrate a a pretty remarkable 65 years in business for one of our favorite dives, Dave’s Stagecoach Inn (316 Westport Road). Food and drink specials, live music and a raffle benefiting Turn the Page KC will mark this Sunday event, which runs from 2 to 6 p.m.
