Eat This Edible: Grön and Headchange partner to bring ravishing rosin relief to Missourians
Collaborations within competing cannabis brands are not regularly seen in the industry. And not all edibles are made the same. After meeting at a Kansas City cannabis trade show a few years back, Oregon-based company Grön decided to partner with local cannabis brand Headchange to craft unique edibles for the Missouri market.
Headchange is one of the leading Missouri companies producing concentrates. Together, Grön took its expertise in curating desirable edibles and combined it with Headchange’s high-potency hash. As a result, the collaboration has led to six new products in the state: three different flavors of Rosin MEGA Pearls, along with three flavors of Rosin Pearls.
While most edible companies stay straight and narrow in terms of flavors for the gummies, this collab goes off the beaten path. The six flavors that the line brings are orange yuzu, electric honeydew, and dragon punch among the Rosin Pearls, and peach mango, baja blaze, and cherry cola among the Rosin MEGA Pearls.
Earlier this year, Grön introduced two new MEGA Pearl flavors, and The Pitch had the chance to give the products a taste. Now, we are happy to have had the opportunity to give the new Grön and Headchange collaborative Rosin MEGA Pearls a try. These full-spectrum, solventless gummies pack quite the punch and deliver on their curated profiles.
Peach Mango Rosin MEGA Pearl: As some cannabis consumers may already know, Grön’s MEGA Pearls truly hold up their end of the bargain. With 100mg THC in each of these large gumdrops, consuming the entire product is more fit for a more experienced consumer. Labeled as a ‘Balanced’ edible, Headchange uses a hybrid strain of rosin to infuse the gummy.
The flavor of this MEGA Pearl is not an overly sweet that some may expect when combining peach and mango. Instead, the citrusness of the peach and the tropical juiciness of the mango pair for a strong mix, leaving just a slight tart aftertaste. After consuming this edible, I was floating for the first few hours until a wave of sleepiness put me to bed. I won’t put all of the weight on the shoulders of the edible, however, as I did have a long work day prior to consumption.
Baja Blaze Rosin MEGA Pearl: The Baja Blaze is labeled as an ‘Elevated’ high. Again, with 100mg THC, this MEGA Pearl is combined with a sativa strain of rosin from Headchange that allows for an uplifting experience. With this in mind, I decided that the Fourth of July was the proper day for consumption.
Biting into the Baja Blaze, it is pretty similar to the beloved Mountain Dew Baja Blast from Taco Bell—a lime-dominant flavor that bursts tropical notes with each chew. Once the effects settled in, I found myself admiring the Midwest sunset as fireworks coincided in the air. I can say that my Fourth of July was more than elevated.
Cherry Cola Rosin MEGA Peal: Of the three different flavors and profiles, the Cherry Cola is considered a ‘Relaxed’ high. Combining the flavor profile of the cola, which offers a spicier palette in comparison to the previous two MEGA Pearls, with an indica strain of rosin allows for the terpenes from the rosin to mesh incredibly well. Considering indica-dominant terps tend to be on the earthier, piquant side of things, the cola notes help intertwine the rosin into the gummy.
With a smooth, rich cola taste and slight notes of sweet cherry, this edible might as well be a cherry Coke from the ‘futuristic’ red Coca-Cola machines that took movie-goers by storm a decade or so ago. I consumed this 100mg THC MEGA Pearl before sitting down to enjoy a movie myself. Unfortunately, I made it a mere hour-and-a-half in before falling asleep right before the ending. It’s all good, though—I knew what I was signing up for.
