Eagles And Giants To Finish The Season In The Meadowlands
The Philadelphia Eagles unfortunately will not be going to the playoffs this season, but they can at least make up for a disappointing finish with a win against a divisional rival in their final matchup of the year. This Sunday, the Eagles will travel to New Jersey to face off against the New York Giants. New York boasts just six wins compared to Philadelphia’s nine. Nonetheless, it won’t be easy for the Eagles to get a win in the final game of the year as the Giants have won three consecutive games.
Despite no meaning in this game in regards to the postseason, it’s still not cheap to get in the stadium as the lowest priced tickets are $86, according to TiqIQ.com. The average price is $236. Hotels in New York City start for as little as $99 at Hipmunk.com for Philly fans who want to spend a night in the Big Apple. Fans outside of the northeast and want to watch their Eagles finish the season can also use Hipmunk to find the cheapest flights available in and out of New York, Newark, or Philadelphia.
The Giants can’t finish as well as the Eagles can (they’ll be 9-7 even if they lose), but momentum can be killer late in the year. The Giants got off to a slow start in 2014, but they’ll head into this week’s NFC East clash with a chance at a fourth straight win. They’ll be without Rashad Jennings when they hit the field, but if they play the way they’ve been playing, they should have a chance to end the year with a respectable 7-9 record.
In addition to ending the year on a high note and getting that fourth win in a row, the Giants probably have that 27-0 beating fresh in their mind from earlier in the season. New York’s biggest issue in the last meeting was execution, as they missed on a fourth and goal play and were terrible on third downs (2 for 14). Eli Manning and company have been much better lately, so they should be able to put points on the board and make this finale a tight contest – just like NFC East battles should be.
The Eagles have just their own pride on the line, but that should be enough to get the victory and finish with double digit wins yet again.
