Durell White and Andre Valentine, alleged robbers, foiled by manual transmission
Durell D. White, 20, and Andre D. Valentine, 23, have each been charged with one count of first-degree robbery and one count of armed criminal action after being arrested in connection with a Brookside robbery that occurred in the early hours of Friday, May 28.
Two victims, a man and a woman, told a Kansas City Police Department detective that they were walking back to their cars, parked at the north end of the Charlie Hooper’s parking lot, when White and Valentine approached them from behind and demanded money.
As the man handed over his wallet, one of the robbers hit him in the head with his handgun, then punched and kicked him as he lay on the ground. The woman handed over her purse, cell phone and car keys while also being beaten and kicked.
One of the attackers allegedly attempted to start the woman’s car, then yelled, “It’s a fucking stick!”
