Drink Like It’s friday

Tuesdays are associated with pressing issues, conflict and competition — in the workplace, productivity tends to be high on this second day of the week. However, in Westport, theories of tension and efficiency are dismissed as the Riot Room (4048 Broadway) presents Elkheart’s Hellbound Happy Hour every Tuesday around 9 p.m. Those looking to take a load off in the dim confines of the new heart of the midtown rock scene are treated to the sounds of bourbon-laden acoustic guitar tunes by the four-man group Elkheart. Started originally as a free-for-all jam, this midweek happy hour now features regional touring acts. The atmosphere calls for forgetting, drinking and enjoying. “Sometimes we all just lose our minds,” says Tim Gutschenreitter, guitarist and Riot Room general manager. Between that and a $5 PBR bust, Tuesdays are now a little less lame. — Berry Anderson
