Awesome New Republic are having a big few weeks. They just recorded an episode of The Hills last week, and their new EP, Rational Geographic Vol. II is available as a free download starting today at their site. You’ll have to surrender your name and e-mail address, but that’s pretty much par for the course these days
They are beloved by Stereogum, which is unsurprising, given their sound. Awesome New Republic have a pastiche of influences that fall somewhere between the Beach Boys and Of Montreal. In other words, you can’t hit the high notes well enough to sing along, but you can certainly dance to it.
Look for Rational Geographic Vol. III and a proper full-length album this fall.
