Don Henley
Don Henley some credit; he could reconvene the Eagles every summer and make a fortune instead of letting his former bandmates take wing only on special occasions for high-dollar tickets. But this year, the reordained Texan is touring behind a solo album already on the skids. He’s done the VH-1 thing and the Rolling Stone interview, and he’s shed some of his mid-’90s bulk. The only thing he didn’t do before Campaign Henley 2000 is write some decent songs. Live, he can choose from lots of material better than the limp-wristed single “Taking You Home,” and there’s the slated-for-November-release Eagles boxed set, for which he can start shilling with some well-placed oldies. But like a tired presidential nominee, Henley will be coming to his podium with too many ideas he can’t back up (and probably too many predictable barbs about the upcoming election).
