Dolce Ultimate Lounge & Tapas Experience — SOLD!

Dolce, the upscale dance club and tapas restaurant at 1520 Grand Avenue, is being taken over by new owners.
“We are processing an application now for a sale of an existing business,” says Gary Majors of the city’s Regulated Industries Division.
Jay McNamara is taking over the space and turning it into a club called 15Twenty.
Joe Simone, Dolce’s former owner, told The Kansas City Star when the club opened that it was to be Kansas City’s “first real bottle experience.” (Don’t tell that to Blonde.)
Dolce’s well-endowed female clientele and bouncy go-go dancers provided endless fodder for skanky site TheDirty.com. We wonder whether the white, Hummer limo, a constant presence in front of 1520 Grand, will be seeking other ports.
Patrice Winston at Regulated Industries says that 15Twenty’s liquor
license is already approved. The only holdup now is approval of the
name change.
Save those vodka-spiked sniffles, because Dolce has a bit more time
left. “They have to operate as Dolce until the sale is complete, and
then they can theoretically be taken over by the new management,”
Majors says.
