Dolce Bakery settles into new location

  • Dolce diva Erin Brown has a bigger shop to display her array of pastries.

The Prairie Village bake shop formerly known as the Dolce Baking Co. opened the doors to its new location yesterday. The place also has a new name, Dolce Bakery, and at least one new honor, “Best Classic Bakery” in this week’s Pitch “Best of Kansas City” issue.

Owner Erin Brown didn’t stray far from her original neighborhood. The new bakery is still located in the Prairie Village Shopping Center, but now in a sunny storefront – twice the size of the former shop – at 3930 West 69th Terrace, just steps away from Cafe Provence.

The extra room allows Brown the freedom to add a few more tables (including three copper-topped tables on the sidewalk in front of the store), Christopher Elbow ice creams, savory soups, and Oddly Correct coffee to her daily offerings of fresh scones, tart and sweet lemon bars, beautifully iced cakes, caramel-pecan rolls and chocolate-chunk cookies.

Dolce Bakery’s hours are 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. The shop is closed on Monday.
