Rozanna’s Flowers

Kansas City is home to plenty of farmers’ markets, but if you haven’t visited Rozanna’s Flowers, you’re missing out on one of the city’s best-kept secrets. While known for its stunning mums and breathtaking garden display, Rozanna’s is more than just a flower shop—it’s essentially the farmer’s market you didn’t know you needed.

Tucked away inside rows of vibrant blooms are shelves brimming with fresh produce that would make any chef or home cook’s heart sing.

Picture this: cabbage so fresh you can almost feel the crunch, baskets of juicy apples and strawberries that beg to be part of a fresh fruit tart, and vine-ripened tomatoes, corn, and watermelons perfect for seasonal salads or juicing. The serenity of picking out the freshest fruits and veggies while strolling through aisles of colorful flowers makes shopping here a unique experience.

Rozanna’s is a chef’s dream, a juicer’s paradise, and a haven for anyone who appreciates clean, homegrown food.

With fall upon us, Rozanna’s shelves are stacked with pumpkins of every shape and size, making it a one-stop shop for all your seasonal needs. Whether you’re prepping for Halloween or just want to bring a little autumn flavor home, you’ll find everything from massive, carving-ready pumpkins to smaller decorative gourds.

Rozanna’s Flowers is located at 8609 North Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO.

Sipping through KC on Urban Hike KC’s Coffee Tour

Rain or shine, Urban Hike KC’s Urban Coffee Hike is an unforgettable way to explore the city—and on my recent tour, we had both. Despite the downpour, our guide, Brittany, made sure we were well-prepared, checking in beforehand to remind us about the essentials (including a backpack for all the goodies we were bound to buy).

Armed with umbrellas and rain jackets, we set off from City Market, ready to dive into Kansas City’s rich history and even richer coffee culture.

We kicked things off with a tour of the River Market, where Brittany shared stories about the area’s past, from its origins to its revitalization. After learning some local history, our first caffeine stop was at Donutology‘s trolley location.  Along with tasting some of their coffee, we indulged in their mini donuts—each one a beautifully decorated, bite-sized treat. The donuts alone were definitely worth braving the rain.

From there, we hopped on the KC Streetcar and headed to downtown Kansas City to visit Waterbird Coffee. Here we sampled their lavender latte and rich drip coffee. The lavender latte was so delicious that I couldn’t resist buying a full-sized version on the spot.

We also got a chance to hear Waterbird’s inspiring startup story: they began during the COVID pandemic and have seen a surge in fame each time the Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl. Their coffee shop has become a local hotspot, especially when the Chiefs parade rolls through the city (GO CHIEFS!).

As we made our way from the downtown area to the Crossroads Arts District, we explored Art Alley and marveled at the vibrant murals and hidden gems.

Our final destination was HiTides Coffee, where we tried their refreshing Dole Whip—something you don’t typically expect on a coffee hike, but it was a delightful surprise! We also heard how HiTides began, capturing the hearts of locals with their laid-back, tropical vibe.

By the end of the hike, we had covered roughly three miles, sampled some of Kansas City’s best coffee (and treats), and learned about the resilience and creativity that defines these local businesses.

The cool thing is that anyone can book a public tour with Urban Hike KC, but public tours aren’t all they do. Both private and corporate hikes are available as well, and the cost is around $38 per person. Sounds like the perfect team-bonding event to me!

Urban Hikes take place all over Kansas City. See details online.
