For our friends the Germans, putting on a film festival amounts to another excuse to put out a great spread. When the Hannover Committee of the Sister City Association of Kansas City presents its fourth-annual German Film Festival at the Mission Theater (5909 Johnson Drive in Mission), expect to find weisswurst, knackwurst, cheese, fruit, desserts and beverages (including beer and wine) available for purchase. Having begun Tuesday evening with the World War I drama Joyeux Noel (Frohe Weihnacht), the festival continues tonight at 7 with Til Schweiger’s romantic comedy Keinohrhasen and with matinees at 3 p.m. Saturday (the 2004 documentary Rhythm Is It!) and Sunday (2003’s Herr Lehmann). The films are in German with English subtitles (except Rhythm) and rated PG-13 (except Keinohrhasen, recommended for ages 16 and older). Doors open 30 minutes before each free screening.
