Detroit punk band Tyvek is at FOKL tonight with Schwervon! and the Bad Ideas

Kevin Boyer, frontman for Detroit noise-punk band Tyvek, is not a singer. On 2012’s full-length On Triple Beams, Boyer yells, spits and snarls through the album’s abrasive ten tracks. His lyrics cover the usual band stories – getting too drunk, playing shows, life on the road.  

But Boyer also pays homage to his much-maligned hometown, shedding a punk realist’s perspective on a scene that might be hard for outsiders to understand. He’s not trying to impress anyone – that’s never been the point for Boyer, or for Tyvek, for that matter. Nonetheless, you’ll have a chance to be impressed with Tyvek this evening. Local bands Schwervon! and the Bad Ideas are also on deck.
