Democrats ask Koch brothers for money; they kindly decline

Hey, did you hear? The Koch brothers aren’t very fond of Democrats and progressive causes. Breaking news, truly. Apparently Sen. Patty Murray, chairwoman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, didn’t get the message. But she no doubt knows the Kochs’ political leanings now.

Murray attempted to hit up the Wichita-based Koch Industries for cash to elect Democrats in the 2012 elections. Her request ended up being an epic unforced error for the Democrats. Not only did Philip Ellender, Koch’s president of government and public affairs, rebuff the senator but he also published his harsh reply online along with a voicemail that Murray left him.
