DeAnthony Clemons, 17, shot and killed at 5-year-old’s birthday party Saturday night

Kansas City, Missouri’s homicide total climbed over the weekend to 22 for 2011. The first slaying of the weekend came Friday night when 17-year-old DeAnthony Clemons was shot and killed at a 5-year-old’s birthday party.

Clemons and friends were in a front yard at 114th and Delmar when someone began shooting at them from the side of a residence around 9:15 p.m. Clemons was shot and died at the scene. Fox 4 reported that children as young as 5 witnessed the shooting.
