Dead Ball

Who says dressing up like an ambulatory corpse is an activity reserved solely for the month of October? Certainly not Amber Higgins, of the local Kittens of Chaos Promotions. She’s a huge fan of zombies, local metal and good causes — three things that she mixes tonight for a fundraiser benefiting the Homeless Services Coalition of Greater Kansas City. And what better day to get dead than Friday the 13th? For KC Zombie Fest, Higgins actually drew band names (Moire, My Father’s Gun and Bleeding the Heavens among them) from a hat because so many musicians wanted to play. At the Beaumont Club (4050 Pennsylvania, 816-561-2560), the $10 cover charge — $6 less if you arrive zombified — and $2 minor fee go toward helping the less fortunate. It all starts at 7 p.m. (Clothing donations will be accepted, too.)
