Dan Weinbaum leaving KMBC, joining Heart to Heart International
KMBC stalwart Dan Weinbaum is leaving TV news behind. The longtime reporter and anchor is leaving Channel 9 to become the director of communications for Olathe, Kansas-based nonprofit Heart to Heart International.
Weinbaum announced the move in an e-mail to news outlets Tuesday. He had been with Channel 9 for eight years after moving to KC from Albuquerque, New Mexico, in January 2004.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for me, and I cannot wait to get started,” Weinbaum said in the news release. “But this is somewhat bittersweet because I’m saying goodbye to my KMBC news family and leaving broadcasting. It’s been a rewarding career. And there aren’t too many in this industry that can truly say they’ve worked with some of the best reporters and photographers in the business. I’ve been lucky to do so.”
