Crossroads nightclub Retro has closed indefinitely

  • Too much trouble at Retro.

A few weeks ago, a 3 a.m. shooting outside downtown club Retro ended in the death of 24-year-old Brandon Arledge. It was the second homicide to occur outside Retro in recent memory; in May 2012, 23-year-old Marcus Heilderberg was fatally shot after an altercation inside the club moved outside.

In response to this most recent shooting, the city’s Regulated Industries Division announced today that it had not renewed Retro’s liquor license, effectively closing the club indefinitely.

“Retro’s liquor license was not renewed after its managing officer failed to comply with several City ordinance requirements, including hosting an illegal after-hours party, during which a fatal shooting took place,” the city said in a news release.

Doubt that this affects anybody’s First Friday plans, but there you go.
