Cretin 66 burns rubber outta hell’s garage

Can we all just agree that Cretin 66 vocalist Screamin’ Mikey C is one of the best frontmen in rock ‘n’ roll? Yeah? Cool. Let’s also agree that the band’s Burnin’ Rubber Outta Hell’s Garage is criminally underrated in the rock ‘n’ roll pantheon? The songs are choice, the guitar riffs so crazy they have the potential to destroy your stereo, and the LP version is on glow in the dark vinyl. Sure, most of the tracks are from the band’s early 7-inches, but these versions smoke the originals in terms of production.
This song was even covered by Nashville Pussy on 2000’s High As Hell. Not as good on record (or live — I heard ’em play it at the Granada when they opened for the Reverend Horton heat year back, and it wasn’t nearly as badass as the original).
The band pops up every now and then. Cretin 66 is not necessarily as active as it once was, but isn’t gone, either. For instance, they’re opening for Antiseen at Davey’s Uptown on Friday, May 21. The members also play every Halloween and Friday the 13th as the Haunted Creepies (but don’t tell anyone — it’s a secret).
