Creeping Death, Toasted Sessions and Homeshake are the best concert bets the next few days

Creeping Death

With Dream Probe, Mentira and Contrast

7 p.m. Thursday, August 10, at Holy Cow Market & Music, 3109 Gillham Road ($8)

Death metal from Denton, Texas? Oh, yes. Creeping Death blasted out a demo in 2015, followed by last year’s Sacrament of Death EP, a one-two punch proving this group of down-south dudes has the goods.

Perhaps even more enticing may be the appearance of the Champaign, Illinois, punk outfit Dream Probe. The band started in March of this year and has already released two demos of uncontrollable, fuzzed-out hardcore. “Dream Probe’s lyrics are influenced by Olguie’s experiences as a trans queer immigrant and their relationship with Puerto Rican diaspora,” a member of the band says in a New Blood interview with Maximum Rocknroll. Sold.

Toasted Sessions

Featuring MB58

8 p.m. Sunday, August 13, at the Riot Room, 4048 Broadway ($5)

Trenton Warner recently shut down his Westport clothing store, the Loop. But when one door closes, another opens: He recently began work on a new brand called Toasted and is promoting it through a new series of parties at the Riot Room. Warner will be DJing each party, along with Maxx Gruv.

This month’s Toasted Session features Kansas City rapper MB58. MB58 is a part of the Mid$tate crew and recently released a collaborative EP with fellow member DWalk. Warner says he came across MB58 in a fairly casual manner. “I liked one of his songs he put out recently. I saw it on Twitter,” Warner says. “I reached out to him and was like, ‘Hey, wanna get on this?’ And he was 100 percent down.”

Homeshake

With Momma’s Boy and Dreamgirl

8 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, at the Riot Room, 4048 Broadway ($12)

One of the fastest-rising figures in the world of bedroom pop is Homeshake, the recording project started by Montreal musician Peter Sagar in 2012 while he was performing with slacker-rock heartthrob Mac DeMarco. Sagar just released his third LP as Homeshake, Fresh Air (via Royal Mountain), and is touring it now.

Momma’s Boy guitarist Shaun Crowley says the band leaped at the opportunity to share a stage with Homeshake. “His chill vibe is right up our alley of the music we listen to as a band,” Crowley says. “Also, being heavily influenced by Mac DeMarco, it is icing on the cake to be playing with his ex–lead guitar player.”
